Kent man caught switching price tags: Police issued a summons for theft to a 42-year-old Kent man June 1 after the supervisor of a Southeast Avenue business told police the suspect was seen earlier in the week switching price tags from $380 to $75 on a radiator. Police discovered the suspect sitting in his truck in the parking lot of the business. According to the report, after being questioned, the suspect admitting to switching the price tags and buying the radiator for $75. He also told the officer he was "homeless and hungry," and had already sold the item for food. The suspect was told to never return to the store.
Tallmadge man lifts employee's phone: A 32-year-old Tallmadge man was charged with theft May 27 after he went into a Tallmadge Circle business and and stole an employee's $500 cell phone. According to the report, store management is in the process of gathering further information on the suspect.
Akron man caught with stolen knife: Police issued a summons for theft to a 41-year-old Akron man June 2 after an employee of a South Avenue business told police the man stole a $25 Smith & Wesson knife from the store.
Akron man steals watch, shoes: Police issued summons for theft, possessing criminal tools and drug paraphernalia to a 22-year-old Akron man June 8 after he left a South Avenue business without paying for a gold watch valued at $30 and a pair of women's shoes valued at $13. According to the report, when police stopped him in his vehicle in the parking lot, a search was conducted where officers found methamphetamine pipes, a knife and a digital scale.
Mailbox damaged: An Ernest Drive man told police June 11 that at 3:55 a.m., someone struck his mailbox with a tan pick-up truck. Damage was estimated at $100.
