Members of six Tallmadge churches gathered at Sammie’s Bar & Grill Feb. 26 for the eighth Blessing In the City event. As Elder Kurran Bishop, director of operations for Shepherd’s Pasture for All Nations (SPAN) describes it, Blessing in the City is basically a “cash mob” of individuals who visited Sammies Bar & Grill after their respective church services. The churches that participated were SPAN Ministries, First Church of God, Bethel Church, Tallmadge United Methodist Church, Our Lady of Victory Church and Heart for the City. “Since it was Black History month and in response to current events in our country, church members sat together with people from other churches to promote racial reconciliation,” noted Bishop. Blessing in the City is an initiative with the goal of “spreading love to the community through financial blessings to local businesses” to show them the churches are here to support the community. “We have been able to provide a financial jolt to seven other Tallmadge businesses in the past — Little Caesars, Seven Grains Natural Market, Plaza Maya, Our Daily Bread, Delanie’s Bar & Grille, Nuevo Acapulco (now El Tren Mexican Grill) and Café Italiano,” Bishop added.
