Tallmadge -- On Oct. 13, police arrested a 23-year-old Akron man and charged him with theft after the loss prevention officer at a West Avenue business told police she observed the suspect walk out the front door without paying for a cart full of $344 worth of groceries. The suspect was released on a personal recognizance bond. Burglary Oct. 16. Game system, games removed from residence: An East Howe Road man told police sometime between 6 p.m. Oct. 15 and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16, someone entered his residence, removing a $300 game system and three video games valued at $150. According to the report, entrance may have been gained via an unlocked back door. Theft Oct. 19. Man arrested for theft of hygiene products: Police arrested a 47-year-old Akron man and charged him with theft after the loss prevention officer of a South Avenue business observed him concealing $49 worth of cologne, body wash and deodorant and leaving the store without paying for the items. According to the report, officers picked up the suspect walking along Route 91 with the merchandise on his person. He was released on a personal recognizance bond. Oct. 19. Tailgate, taillight stolen from vehicle: The owner of a West Avenue business told police sometime between 7 a.m. Oct. 17 and 3 p.m. Oct. 19, someone removed a $500 tailgate and a $100 taillight from a truck parked in the car lot. Oct. 18. Nailers, drill taken from unsecured tool box: An Ernest Drive man told police sometime during the past month, someone removed three silver framing nailers valued at $250 each and a $250 cordless drill from his unsecured truck tool box. Oct. 18. Cash, gift cards removed from vehicle: A Senn Drive woman told police sometime overnight, someone entered her vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, removing $50 cash and $700 in gift cards from inside. There were no signs of forced entry. Also reported missing were six solar driveway lights valued at $50. Oct. 18. GPS unit missing from unlocked vehicle: A Morningstar Drive woman told police sometime overnight, someone removed a $200 GPS unit from inside her unlocked vehicle. Oct. 17. Akron man charged with theft of knife: Police arrested a 31-year-old Akron man and charged him with theft and possession of criminal tools after the loss prevention officer at a South Avenue store told police he caught the suspect with a $21 knife in his pocket which he did not pay for. According to the report, when the officer was patting down the suspect, he discovered a security tag removal key in his back pocket. The suspect reportedly told the officer he used the key for removing security tags from clothing in stores. The suspect was transported to the Summit County Jail. Oct. 17. Purse, clothes, cash taken from unlocked vehicle: A Tallmadge woman told police while she was patronizing a South Avenue business, someone entered her unlocked vehicle, which was parked outside the store, removing a $150 GPS unit, $70 cash, a $12 purse, a variety of credit cards and identification information, as well as a bag filled with $200 worth of newly-purchased clothes. Oct. 16. Stereos removed from vehicles: A Cuyahoga Falls man told police someone entered his vehicle while it was parked at a West Avenue business by punching out the door lock, removing a $100 in-dash CD player/radio. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $260. On Oct. 15, a Tallmadge woman told police while shopping at a South Avenue business for approximately 10 minutes, someone entered her unlocked vehicle, removing her $200 in-dash CD player/radio. Damage to the dash was estimated at $1,000. Police are pursuing a possible lead supplied by a witness. Criminal damage Oct. 17. Halloween lights damaged: The owner of a West Avenue business told police sometime overnight, someone damaged his Halloween lights which were valued at $20.
