K of C free-throw championship set

All boys and girls ages 10 through 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2010 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship.

The local competition, sponsored by the Our Lady of Victory Council 5613, has been scheduled for Jan. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Tallmadge Recreation Center, 46 N. Munroe Road.

The K of C Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local, district and state competitions. All boys and girls 10 to 14 years of age are eligible to participate and will compete in their respective age divisions. Last year more than 223,000 contestants participated in more than 3,200 local competitions.

All contestants on the local level are recognized for their participation in the event. Entry forms will be available at the event. For more information, contact Bill Floto at 330-634-0508.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with nearly 1.7 million members in more than 13,000 local councils. Last year, Knights donated 68 million volunteer hours and $144 million to charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.
