Tallmadge -- On Feb. 9, police charged a Tallmadge man with assault of a police officer and resisting arrest after responding to a domestic disturbance report at his residence. According to the report, the man called police and said a woman at his home had assaulted him. Upon officers arrival, they say the man pushed the woman in the chest and neck. While attempting to arrest him, the man reportedly "struggled and wrestled" with officers. He was subsequently Tased, handcuffed and transported to the Tallmadge Police Department where he was booked before being transported to the Summit County Jail. Burglary Feb. 14. Cash stolen from home: An Ashmun Avenue man told police sometime between 5:40 and 8 p.m., while he was out to dinner with his family, someone broke into his home, removing $500 in cash. According to the report, the front door had been forced open and several drawers had been rummaged through. Damage to the door and lock were estimated at $1,000. Theft Feb. 16. Purse, battery stolen: A delivery driver told police sometime between 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., someone broke into her delivery truck, which was parked behind a West Avenue business, removing her $50 purse, her $20 wallet, several credit cards and the truck battery, valued at $100. Damage to the truck's window was estimated at $150. Feb. 13. Clothes stolen: Police issued a summons for theft to a 30-year-old Akron woman after the loss prevention officer at a South Avenue business told police she saw the suspect conceal $35 worth of clothing in a bag and leave the store without paying for the items. According to the report, the suspect was detained by security until police arrived. During a search of the suspect, police discovered 10 grams of marijuana in her purse. She was released at the scene. Feb. 10. Knife, hats lifted: Police issued a summons for theft to a 64-year-old Mogadore man after the security officer at a South Avenue business told police she saw the suspect leave the store without paying for a $20 pocket knife and two hats valued at $45. He was released at the scene. Criminal damage Feb. 15. Unwelcome gift: A North Thomas Road man told police sometime overnight, someone placed what appeared to be human feces on an outdoor rug at the entry door of his apartment. According to the report, the rug was folded over and a small outdoor table was placed on top of the rug. Feb. 14. Wall, handrail damaged: An employee of a South Avenue business told police sometime between 5:30 and 6 p.m., someone damaged a handrail and masonry wall. According to the report, it appeared a vehicle, possibly a snow plow, struck the steel handrail and forced it into the masonry wall, causing structural damage estimated at $5,000.
